Kingdom Builders

Welcome!
The Kingdom Builders experience is a complete approach to “hands-on” missions for teenagers and adults. Participants began to understand the importance of being in the midst of need and doing something about it. The magnitude of a project like this is unprecedented. KB is a non-profit group and functions only with the fees from participants and the generosity of communities who want to provide free labor to their community. For the past 10 years, we have never budgeted KB money for materials or supplies. Every community we have entered has been open and provided the necessary materials for us to accomplish the task. We hope that you will be inspired by what you see on this site and somehow be able to help. We are open to any type of aid you feel you can give to make our next event as successful as those previous projects. Thank you in advance for your consideration and willingness to get involved in touching people’s lives.

WHY INVOLVE YOUTH IN MISSIONS?
There are many things in which teenagers can be involved these days. Missions does not rank at the top of the choice list for many. However, after an individual has participated in a Kingdom Builders project, it is difficult to keep him or her away.

Our teenagers have the courage to question their faith and belief system. KB provides them the experience of service to their neighbors. This experience brings about the value of faith in God and the Christlike life.
We are strong believers that mission action is not just for adults. Many people have the misconception that teenagers cannot do the work on a construction site. Our answer to that is, “Watch this.” KB participants have proven themselves willing and efficient when it comes to construction and repairs. It gives them confidence and courage to take on tasks year round.

THE MISSION OF KINGDOM BUILDERS
Our mission is to provide construction, repair and renovation services to community-based groups such as nursing homes, low-income housing projects, homeless shelters, teen centers and other similar organizations through a Christian ministry of service. KB will attempt to deliver this program by involving middle school students, high school students, college students and adults in a Christian ministry, which instills the values of community service and compassion to others in need.

HISTORY
After 10 years of projects, Kingdom Builders has seen more than 3,000 students repair more than 225 homes, churches, and schools in communities in the United States and the Bahamas.
Kingdom Builders originated under the direction of several ministers called to missions. It has been their goal to provide labor to communities where funds are available for materials. With the use of free labor, these funds can be stretched and transformed into a wise use of money. It has also been a conviction to create productive projects while keeping costs down to a minimum.
Kingdom Builders began with a pilot project in Boone, North Carolina in 1999. Over 100 teenagers and adults worked to repair homes, minister in nursing homes, aid at a thrift store and homeless shelter, and provide labor for lawn maintenance.

Following a great success, plans were made in 2000 to conduct the second project in Statesboro (Bulloch County), Georgia, where over 150 teenagers participated.

In 2001 the project exploded to 280 participants. That summer, under the theme, “Holy Sweat: To Love is to Serve,” they were housed at the Haddock Baptist Church in Haddock (Jones County), Georgia.

The year 2002 was a milestone for Kingdom Builders. The organization incorporated and was awarded a non-profit 501(c)3 status. A board of directors was developed who know and understand the concept of missions oversee and operate Kingdom Builders.

2002 was an extensive summer. KB accomplished 2 projects, which carried the theme “Improve Your Serve”. In Manchester (Meriwether & Talbot Counties), Georgia over 320 teenagers and adults provided over 13,000 labor hours. Two weeks later, 124 participants traveled by air and sea to Bimini, Bahamas. There, work took place on 3 homes, a school, a park, and a church. Also, KB Kids Club and a baseball clinic were conducted.

In 2003, KB rolled through Marietta (Cobb County), Georgia with two individual projects. There, work was completed on more than 35 homes and an ongoing partnership with the City of Marietta and Cobb County was forged.

In 2004, KB converged on Rome (Floyd County), Georgia with over 250 participants and Raleigh, North Carolina with close to 200. These weeks transformed these areas and the teenagers who participated.

In 2005, KB’s first Collegiate Projects took place in Bimini, Bahamas and West End, Grand Bahama Island. Four Universities from GA and NC participated in projects on Bimini; completed work on two churches, three homes, and a local school; and assisted with a baseball clinic for the children. The third week of the Collegiate Project took place on the West End of Grand Bahama Island. Hurricanes Jeanne and Francis created extensive damage. During the “pioneer” week of projects on West End, a college group from Valdosta State was able to work on five homes and a church.

Taliaferro County in Central Georgia was the focus of a great initiative in 2005. Touching Taliaferro With Love is a partnership of individuals, organizations, agencies, government and churches who are choosing to invest their lives and resources in the future of the children of Taliaferro County. KB completed 28 homes, worked in a daycare and provided a sports camp for over 80 children.
KB crossed a threshold in 2005 and became a more year-round focused group with a full-time Executive Director.

In 2006 KB served in New Orleans, Raleigh, North Carolina, Griffin (Spalding County), Georgia, and the Bahamas. KB worked on a total of 45 homes at these locations. Work was also done in many community service agencies and churches.

In 2007 KB served in New Orleans, Louisiana; Covington (Newton County), Georgia; Raleigh, North Carolina; and the Bahamas. Over 70 homes were renovated, at these projects. Several groups participated in the Bahamas constructing bathrooms at a feeding center and carrying on street ministries in the villages.

Kingdom Builders also had a pilot project for families (In Gen) in Raleigh. There, KB, hosted volunteers ages 6 and up. Families worked together serving others while they served Christ.

In 2008, KB brought it home. Statesboro (Bulloch County), Georgia was the recipient of a Youth Project and an InGen Project. Over 200 teens and adults served in Statesboro, New Orleans, and the Bahamas.

2009 was a great success. KB served Ashland, Kentucky for the first time. Eight homes were worked on providing handicap access and new roofs. There was no better place to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Kingdom Builders than where it all began. Boone, North Carolina served as the first host city in 1999 and 10 years later KB impacted the city again completing 12 construction projects and working in a local trailer park and serving Samaritan’s Purse. InGen followed these projects in Griffin (Spalding County), Georgia completing a playground for a local church, assisting Habitat for Humanity with porch repair and providing volunteers to the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club, Homeless Shelter and Thrift Store.
